ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The MDO Project Support Grants offers funding through two distinct streams to support musicians to continue their artistic development and help sustain businesses in the South Australian contemporary original music sector.
Funding rounds are generally held twice a year and open for applications in April (for activity from 1 July), and October/November (for activity from 1 January).
Dates for October/November 2021 have not yet been announced. Please join our mailing list for notification.
Stream A: Creative Development – grants of up to $15,000 to support recording and performing artists, songwriters, producers and artists managers (on behalf of their artists) in the creation and/or release of new original music composition or content.
Stream B: Business Development – grants of up to $15,000 to support recording studios, promoters, record labels, booking agents, live music venues, artist managers, self-managed artists and other music entrepreneurs, businesses or organisations with their efforts to facilitate the creation, presentation, production or delivery of original music.
It is important to note that while the Music Development Office manages this funding program, it does not determine the final outcomes.
Applications are assessed by a panel of industry representatives, who rigorously assess applications against program criteria. The panel prepares funding recommendations for the Minister for Innovation and Skills for approval.
Please note, funding rounds for the Project Support Grants can be highly competitive, and there are generally a greater number of worthy applications than the available funds can support.
